The Director of Billing is responsible for the overall management and execution of billing and collections for the agency, including planning directing, supervising, coordinating and evaluating the day-to-day billing operations.  This position is also responsible for increasing efficiency and ensures the maximization of revenue for all payer sources.

 

Job Description

 

  • Ensures that billing of call payors takes place on a regular calendar cycle
  • Collaborates with staff to improve information, documentation and to implement best practices
  • Oversees and performs (as applicable) claims audits for all payer sources
  • Oversees the reviews and clears held claims (clears as applicable) due to varying reasons while coordinating with Scheduler and Medical Record, as needed
  • Runs necessary reports in HCHB for oversight of employee productivity and management of unbilled claims
  • Coordinates with Branch Managers to address challenges and identify necessary support for financial success
  • Conducts claim investigations for individual branch performance
  • Organizes practices for consistency to meet target billing objectives
  • Strategizes and develops corrective plans with team or individuals, as applicable
  • Provides leadership and direction in identification and resolution of operational barriers as it relates to efficient and compliant claim processing
  • Works to maintain positive, collaborative relationships with patients, caregivers, referral sources, and/or physicians
  • Participates in internal staff meetings and training activities, as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years billing/accounts receivable/collections experience in a health care, preferably home health care setting
  • Basic accounting knowledge preferred
  • Knowledgeable on home health billing software. Basic knowledge of clinical module is also helpful
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Current hands-on billing experience in Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and have strong self-initiative
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Excellent problem resolution skills and decision-making ability
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
